The Opera Workshop, performed by the University of St. Thomas Music Department, will present three nights of opera scenes at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 26-28 in Cullen Hall.
The performances will include scenes from “Brigadoon,” “The Pirates of Penzance,” “I do! I do,” “Hello Dolly,” “Cinderella” and Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro."
“The shows are always family friendly, entertaining and free,” Dr. Brady Knapp said. “Since 2006, the UST musical scenes program has been an excellent first exposure to opera, operetta and musical theater for our students and young people in the community. Our UST vocal music students are doing a tremendous job to promote the arts and serious music culture on campus.”
The performance will be directed by Knapp, head of choral and vocal studies at UST. The stage director is Debra Dickinson, a Broadway veteran and full-time faculty member of the Shepherd School at Rice University.
“She always delivers a world-class production and brings out the best in the students,” Knapp said. “I am grateful for Debra and our students and their collective desire for performing excellence.”
The event is free and open to the public. To reserve seating, contact Ann Harlan at 713-525-3560 or harlanac@stthom.edu.
