Tuesday, January 22, 2013 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM New Vision, New Stars University of St. Thomas partnership with the world-renowned Houston Symphony to perform a benefit concert. Andrey Boreyko, Guest Conductor Stravinsky’s Suite from “The Firebird” Ravel’s “Pavane” Mussorgsky/Ravel’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” 7:30 p.m., Jan. 22, 2013 Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana St. #101, Houston, TX 77002 Chairs: Jes and John Hagale Honoree: Beth Madison To bring the University closer to realizing its vision for enhancing the visual and performing arts for the campus and the Houston community, the University of St. Thomas will partner with the world-renowned Houston Symphony to perform the New Vision, New Stars Benefit Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 at Jones Hall in the Houston Theater District. Guest conductor, Andrey Boreyko will conduct Stravinsky’s Suite from “The Firebird,” Ravel’s “Pavane” and Mussorgsky/Ravel’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.” Thanks to an initial grant from The Alkek Williams Foundation, Studio Red Architects has completed a design for the exterior of the Performing Arts Center which will occupy a block of University campus. Funds raised from this year’s concert will support the interior design of the Performing Arts Center. Event chairs are Jes and John Hagale. The event will honor Beth Madison, who gives generously of herself to countless organizations in Houston. She sits on boards for the Houston Symphony, The Houston Grand Opera, the Alley Theatre, the Houston World Affairs Council, The Foundation for Teen Health, Trees for Houston and the Board of Trustees for the University of Houston Moores School of Music. She is also a past board member for the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance and Opera in the Heights.
