Our Global Village is partnering with AllPeopleBeHappy foundation to organize an educational event focusing on Grassroots Approaches to Women’s Economic Empowerment. Around the world more than 2.5 billion people live in grinding poverty on less than $2 a day. Yet, multiple programs have shown that investing in the earning power of women yields large benefits in terms of family income and community well-being. When women earn, everyone benefits. Our speakers represent three non-profits with successful programs supporting women to help their families and communities escape poverty. In addition to learning about their programs, a showcase of products will give you an opportunity to find unique gifts, just in time for the holidays. Event Speakers • Conor French, Chief Executive Officer of Indego Africa, working with women’s artisan cooperatives in Rwanda • Erika Vohman, Founder of The Maya Nut Institute, working with women living in the rainforests of Central and South America • Quynh-Anh McMahan, Co-founder of The Community Cloth, working with refugee women artisans in Houston • Moderator, Carolyn Watson, VP of Global Philanthropy, JP Morgan Chase Foundation Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar, find unique gifts among the products created by women artisans, and discover other ways to support these causes.
