The Rothko Chapel is pleased to partner with the Houston Grand Opera (HGOco) to present this special program created specifically for Rothko Chapel members. What does home mean to you?  Is it where you were born or where you live now?  Is it where you were baptized or where you will be laid to rest?  Is it a food, a style of music or a particular scent in the air? Original cast members of Houston Grand Opera’s Mariachi OperaCruzar la Cara de la Luna/To Cross the Face of the Moon, Cecilia Duarte and Vanessa Cerda-Alonzo with pianist and composer David Hanlon explore the answers to questions about home and family through songs about countries and cultures in Spanish and English including music from the world’s first mariachi opera, Cruzar la Cara de la Luna, a story about one family divided by country and border. Join Houston Grand Opera at the Rothko Chapel to explore themes of family and home which resonate in any language. Cruzar la Cara de la Luna/To Cross the Face of the Moon returns to Houston Grand Opera’s stage on March 21, 23, and 24, 2013. To RSVP for the program, please contact Chiquita at 713.660.1407.
