Post Oak Road Houston, TX 77045 To Empower Women September 22nd – Breakfast/Meet the Cast/Rehearsal 9:30am – 11am October 27th, 2012 - 7pm Showtime September 17, 2012 (Houston, TX) Dr. Dorie McKnight , a native of Minneapolis, MN has landed in the nations’ fourth largest and most diverse city Houston, TX to produce her play, “Love Covers”. The play began in Minneapolis in August 2012 with 5 successful showings. Houston marks the launching pad for the “Love Covers the World Tour”! “Love Covers”, a faith based production is adapted from McKnight’s book “Cover Girls in the Church, The 11th Commandment, Thou Shall not Tell”. By using the message Cover Girls, McKnight is referring to the often extreme lengths that woman will go to cover up for her family, and others to make things go well. In the book she uses biblical characters to reveal why women cover things up. It mostly happens to avoid the pain of rejection, shame and condemnation from others. For example, “Eve had to cover for Adam”, all of this is addressed in the play, stated McKnight. To echo the sentiments of native Houstonian Beyonce Knowles, “I’m a Survivor” “Cover Girls” are going to make it. But those who reject the Cover Girls mentality, will not just be survivors but thrivers who, like Rahab (the biblical harlot who is listed in the genealogy of Jesus) will cover for her family and others. Additionally, “Cover Girls” is acknowledging Breast Cancer Awareness and commingling with Sisters Network® Inc. donating play tickets and designating a survivor seating section. They will have a vendor table at the play and listings on media materials for them to continue to get the word out regarding breast cancer awareness. # # #
