For October, Williams-Sonoma at First Colony Mall offers Technique Classes featuring the rich flavors of autumn and sweet cupcake treats. The October schedule of Technique Classes includes: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3 FROM 11 A.M. TO 12 P.M. – A Simple Barbecue. From Williams-Sonoma’s Easy Entertaining cookbook, this menu offers a fresh spin on traditional barbecue fare and is also easy on the cook. Attendees can add store-bought desserts and good company and a delightful evening is guaranteed. Menu includes Vanilla Lemon Coolers, Cherry Tomato, Parmesan and Arugula Salad and Pasta Salad with Grilled Vegetables. A full meal is served and each attendee receives recipes. Cost is $20 per person. Reservations required, (281) 313-1180. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6 AT 11 A.M. AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7 AT 1:30 P.M. – Start with Soup. Soups are the perfect way to begin a fall or winter meal and often hearty enough to be the main course. Homemade soup can be intimidating, but all the steps are simple and once learned, cooks are able to make hundreds of variations. No charge to attend. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6 FROM 11 A.M. TO 1 P.M. – Halloween Cupcake Decorating Event. This class teaches attendees all the tricks for the best treats. Guests are invited to stop by the Williams-Sonoma at First Colony Mall so kids can have fun decorating their very own cupcakes while parents take advantage of Halloween promotions. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10 FROM 6 TO 8 P.M. – Lidia’s Favorite Recipes. This class features the recipes of Lidia Bastianich, one of America’s beloved chefs and authors. The recipes are some of the author’s favorites that have become go-to meals. Attendees will receive a copy of the cookbook and be served a meal. Cost is $75 per person. Reservations are required. AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14 AT 1:30 P.M. – Hearty & Healthy Vegetarian Dishes. Hearty winter squashes, pumpkins and mushrooms easily replace meat in recipes and are healthy and delicious. Attendees learn how to select, store and prepare seasonal produce in vegetarian main dishes. Class features savory meat-free entrees that will become family favorites. No charge to attend. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17 FROM 6 TO 8 P.M. – Food Made Fast: Asian Cuisine. This class focuses on Williams-Sonoma’s Food Made Fast cookbook, featuring quick-and-easy recipes for weeknight meals. Attendees discover Asian dishes that can be prepared in fewer than 30 minutes, making the recipes ideal for today’s busy schedules. Menu includes Cashew Chicken, Beef with Ginger and Caramelized Onions, Salt and Pepper Shrimp and Vegetable Chow Mein. A full meal is served and each attendee receives recipes. Cost is $40 per person. Reservations required, (281) 313-1180. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20 AT 11 A.M. AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21 AT 1:30 P.M. – Fall Baking. As autumn sets in, everyone knows it is time to fill the house with the enticing aroma of home-baked goods. This class shows how to prepare easy recipes that showcase cinnamon, apples, nutmeg and other fall flavors. The sweet treats are perfect for breakfast, snacks or as a comforting dessert.
