The Abel Prize Seminar is focused around the broad legacy of Abel's mathematical achievements, the work of John T. Tate, Jr., Abel Laureate 2010, from the University of Texas at Austin, and the impact of fundamental mathematics in crossing scientific boundaries. The aim of the Transatlantic Science Week is to initiate stronger scientific collaboration between Norway and the United States, including technological development that reflects interaction with the mathematical sciences.
