43 Students to be Recognized by READ3Zero at the the 3rd Annual “I Write: Short Stories By Kids, For Kids” Anthology Ceremony
Children will see their own story or artwork professionally published through this Houston-based literacy foundation
Houston, TX, November 7- On Saturday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m., the Texas based Non-Profit Literacy Foundation, READ3Zero will reveal the "3rd Annual Short-Story Anthology", to honor students in grades third through twelfth for their literary and illustration accomplishments. The Literacy and Book Signing Event will be held at the Houston Public Library Downtown-Central located at 500 McKinney, Houston, Texas 77002.
“We are so excited to celebrate with our talented young ladies and gentlemen at the annual Book Signing Celebration party this December,” said Melissa Williams, Children’s Author and founder of READ3Zero. “No words can quite describe the joy that comes from seeing the expression on the children’s faces when they see their work published for the first time at our event.”
Founded in 2009 by Williams, READ3zero has embarked on a mission to help share various aspects of the literacy and publishing world, with a goal in mind to influence the lives of children to learn outside of the classroom. One of the primary creative projects at READ3Zero is the annual short-story contest, which aims to emphasize the idea that reading and writing should always coexist.
Through Read3Zero, Williams not only works to encourage children to read, but she aims to inspire children to use their creativity and write their own story.
Williams said, “We encourage parents, teachers, partners and businesses to take a stand within their respective community by becoming sponsors in order to get literature into the hands of groups that need them. The ability for a child to gain access to books, meet an author, attend a creative writing workshop or even witness the overall support of the community to help fight illiteracy can be a life-changing event for our youth.”
At the event, students will receive awards of excellence and a copy of their very own book to autograph amongst family, friends and the community. The event program is as follows:
2:30 p.m. Individual readings from Star Story Authors
3:30 p.m. Book signings with the featured Student Authors
4:30 p.m. Closing remarks and event commencement
Refreshments will be served throughout the event and all are encouraged to mix, mingle and make new friends.
This anthology is available for purchase to the public using standard publishing channels: bookstores, direct purchase through the foundation: READ3Zero and online retailers, such as Amazon.com.
