The University of St. Thomas’ Center for International Studies & the American Foreign Service Association’s Fund for American Diplomacy Cordially invite you to celebrate the inaugural “Distinguished Diplomat” Lecture
The event is at 6:30 p.m. on March 21 at La Colombe D’Or Ballroom.
A biennial lecture series to be held in the spring after each Federal election, a tour de horizon by a noted retired senior career U.S. Foreign Service Officer on the challenges facing American diplomacy concerning issues, prospects, and prognostications in U.S foreign policy over the following two years for the newly-elected President, or the off-year Congress. A continuing series of Crisis and Issue Briefings will be offered between each flagship Distinguished Diplomat lecture.
To be Given By Ambassador John D. Negroponte Director of National Intelligence & Deputy Secretary of State, President George W. Bush’s Administration
This new lecture series has been launched to promote and deepen knowledge and understanding of the U.S. Foreign Service -- in the nation’s fourth largest and most diverse metropolis -- and the profound skills Foreign Service Officers bring to the art of diplomacy.
Additionally, the lecture highlights the work of the Center for International Studies, the oldest formal center for international studies in the Southeast Texas region, educating new leaders for careers in diplomacy and international organizations.
A sponsors’ dinner with Amb. Negroponte will follow at the Colombe D’Or circa 8:30. For sponsorship details, contact Prof. Richard Sindelar at sindelh@stthom.edu, or 713-525-3819.
