This talk will start with a brief introduction to Hadoop and will cover the core components of Hadoop as well as some of the components of the ecosystem. After the introduction to the core components of Hadoop we'll run through some basic HDFS, MapReduce and Apache Pig code on a provided VirtualBox image. A VirtualBox image of a single node hadoop cluster will be provided - bring your laptop!If you would like, you can install VirtualBox ahead of time by downlaoding it from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and install the VirtualBox image at the talk. You'll want to allocate 2 GB of RAM to it.
