At this workshop, participants will look at art from around the world and explore how these works of art communicate ideas and stories. There will be a chance to do some creative writing of their own, inspired by works of art. In the studio, homeschool families will create their own handmade books, using a variety of beautiful papers and simple binding techniques.Homeschool workshops, specially designed for families who homeschool their children, feature activities that encourage parents and children to learn about and discover art together. Activities are interdisciplinary and teach about art and how art relates to other curricular areas such as language arts, science, and social studies. Each workshop includes an interactive gallery tour, followed by a group discussion in the galleries and an art-making activity that examines a select work of art. All participants receive materials to extend the lesson at home. This program is available only to homeschool families with children ages 4 to 12. Preregistration is required. Families with children ages 10+ are encouraged to register for the afternoon workshop held on the third Tuesday of the month.
