During the Renaissance era in Europe (approximately 14th to 17th centuries), a tradition emerged of collecting objects from nature, religion, and history, and displaying them in cabinets—or sometimes entire rooms. These were often called cabinets of curiosities, or cabinets of wonder, and many things collected for these cabinets became part of museum collections.  At this workshop, participants explore related works of art in the galleries, and, in the studio, create their own "cabinet of wonder."Homeschool workshops, specially designed for families who homeschool their children, feature activities that encourage parents and children to learn about and discover art together. Activities are interdisciplinary and teach about art and how art relates to other curricular areas such as language arts, science, and social studies. Each workshop includes an interactive gallery tour, followed by a group discussion in the galleries and an art-making activity that examines a select work of art. All participants receive materials to extend the lesson at home. Available only to homeschool families with children ages 4 to 12. Preregistration required. Families with children ages 10+ may register for the afternoon workshop on the third Tuesday of the month.
