Every Sunday, it's ArtTime/FamilyTime at the MFAH. This Sunday, look for signs in the main lobbies to tell you the gallery location for the day's activities. In the Family Zone, spend some time with the friendly family educators: sit on a pillow and read, sketch a work of art, and join an investigation of a work of art. In the studio, create an art project inspired by original works of art on display in the Family Zone. This suite of programs includes:Sunday Storytime​ Make connections between the storybook Sir Ryan's Quest by Jason Deeble and a contemporary sculpture by American artist Nick Cave that's found in the exhibition The Abstract Impulse: Selections from the Modern and Contemporary Collections. (begins at 1:30 p.m.)Creation Station At this family-friendly workshop, artists encourage families to create art using materials or ideas similar to those in today's featured work of art. Discovering the balance between ritual and silliness created by Nick Cave in Soundsuit (image #2 in the slideshow above), visitors are inspired to build their own three-dimensional mixed-media collage.Gallery Investigations An MFAH educator at the Gallery Cart has an "I Spy" search, looking games, hands-on materials, and books for families.Sketching in the Galleries An MFAH teaching artist guides adults and children of all drawing levels at this informal program.
