Bellfort Houston TX 77035 Houston Novice Series is open to any Novice fencer. A fencer is classified as a Novice if they have been fencing less than one year. The year starts from your first fencing class (not tournament). If you have any questions about a fencer's eligibility please contact the tournament organizers. Houston Novice Series awards points to the top 8 finishers in each event as follows: NOTE: No equipment will be rented at this tournament. Fencers must have their own equipment. Knickers are not required. Foil conductive bibs are not required. 1st- 64 2nd- 32 3rd- 16 5th- 8 6th- 4 7th- 2 8th- 1 Points are cumulative. The fencer with the most points in each weapon will be awarded a gift certificate to The Fencing Store at the final Houston Novice Series equal to the number of points they've earned. If any such event is canceled, askFRED will be updated to describe the cancellation. FORMAT INFORMATION Format of Novice events will be decided at the venue. EQUIPMENT All weapons will be scored electrically. Equipment (masks, lames, and electric cords) will be inspected and marked. USFA Membership USFA Membership is not required for Novice events Waiver of Liability ***All participants must sign a Waiver of Liability form which can be found on the Gulf Coast Division Website. Fencers under age 18 must have a parent's signature on this form.
