Children’s Museum of Houston highlights different ways math is fun

What:No matter how hard you try, you just can’t escape from math. Nearly everything we do has math in it! From geometry to measuring, come learn about the math we use every day during the Children’s Museum of Houston’s Math Playground event. On-going Activities:Building Geometry: At the root, a lot of buildings are made of simple shapes. Explore this by building your own designs out of various shapes at the Inventors’ Workshop.Shape Tessellations: Design beautiful shapes with no gaps left between spaces, no overlapping, and constant patterns at the Alexander Art Academy.Circle Art: Use circles of all colors and sizes to design your own masterpiece at Junktion.Positive and Negative: Every integer can be positive or negative. Make art out of this concept at Junktion.Double Shutter: Play a counting and probability strategy game at Junktion.Pattern Block Blast: Use block shapes to create a rocket ship at the ExxonMobil Math Cart. Roll the dice and remove patterns. Whoever clears their board first, wins.How Many Pennies? Weigh various toys to see how many pennies they would cost at the ExxonMobil Math Cart. Which toys are deals? ***Activities, events and times subject to change.
MUSEUM HOURS: Tue. – Sat.: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun: Noon – 6 p.m.
Second Saturday of every month opens at 9 a.m. for members. General Museum admission: $9 per person and $8 for seniors 65+ and for military personnel. Children under one and Museum Members receive free admission.
Free Family Night every Thursday 5 – 8 p.m.
