Children's Museum of Houston shows classic toys are just as fun as new ones

What:Imagine a world without game consoles! It did exist way back when your parents were young. Discover how far your imagination will take you as we bring classic toys to here and now, no batteries required. Don’t forget to awe in amazement at Remember Your First Car?, an exhibit made up of nearly 100 vintage pedal cars with models ranging from 1910 to the late 1980’s.
On-going Activities:Science of Retro Toys: Lava Lamps, Silly Putty, the Slinky and Wooly Willy. Discover the inner workings of these awesome classics at Science Station.Wheeled Inventions: Rev up your engines for fast moving inventions! Make running cars out of springs, fans, gears, rubber bands, and more at the Inventors’ Workshop.Pointillism Pop Art: Channel Roy Lichtenstein and dot, dot, dot your way to beautiful artwork at the Alexander Art Academy.Retro Toys: Get in a blast from the past frenzy playing with classic toys including Mr. Potato Head and Etch a Sketch at Junktion.Retro Car Puppet: Use your creativity to make a car fueled by your imagination at Junktion.Personalized License Plate: Design a vanity plate to attach to your bike or trike at Junktion.Classic Dominoes: Challenge each other as you take dominoes and match them end to end with the same number of dots at the ExxonMobil Math Cart. ***Activities, events and times subject to change.
MUSEUM HOURS: Tue. – Sat.: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun: Noon – 6 p.m.
Second Saturday of every month opens at 9 a.m. for members. General Museum admission: $9 per person and $8 for seniors 65+ and for military personnel. Children under one and Museum Members receive free admission.
Free Family Night every Thursday 5 – 8 p.m.
