We invite you to join us for the 5th Biennial Meeting of the Rice Linguistics Society, which will be held FEBRUARY 8-9, 2013. The theme for this year's meeting is Language, Culture, and Cognition" and will feature presentations across a wide variety of topics, including but not limited to grammar, culture, cognition, and their intersections. Our plenary speaker Daniel Everett (Bentley University) is best known for his recent book ?Language: The Cultural Tool,? in which he challenges long-standing presumptions about the nature of language. His talk, "Towards Ethnogrammar: An Outline of a Research Program" has been sponsored by the Dean of the Office of Humanities as well as the Humanities Research Center at Rice. The first day of the conference will be held in the Farnsworth Pavilion. The second day of the conference will be in Herring 100. We will also be having a poster session on the 9th from 3:30-5 pm in the Morrow room in the library. The registration fee is $10.00. Registration is free for Rice Students.
