Children's Museum of Houston reaches out to the next generation of independent, innovative and imaginative thinkers Sponsored by Chevron What:Engineering offers the world imaginative and innovative solutions to any task at hand, and the Children’s Museum of Houston’s National Engineers Week celebrates those independent minds and ideas.  Join us as we prepare the next generation of thinkers through creative activities that will put any aspiring engineer to the test.  The official National Engineers Week is Feb. 17 – 23, 2013.  Don’t forget to check out the Invention Convention exhibit! Special Events:Geodesic Dome:  Work alongside engineers to create a huge dome you can crawl into.  Explore concepts in design, building, and construction.Event Time:  All day, Saturday, Feb. 16 in the Brown Auditorium.Circuits:  Explore batteries, bulbs, and wires as real-life engineers explain concepts in electronics and how it’s important to our daily lives.Event Time:  All day, Saturday, Feb. 16 in the Alcove.American Society of Civil Engineers:   Come rub elbows with real life engineers and participate in hands-on, interactive activities.Event Time:  All day, Saturday, Feb. 16 in Kid’s Hall. On-Going Activities:Surviving the Fall:  Invent a package system that will survive a 14-foot drop with the least force applied inside the package at the Inventors’ Workshop.Paper Tower:  Discover how high a tower you can build with paper at Junktion. Engineering Match:  Explore the diverse fields of engineering and decide which one best suits you with this matching card game at Junktion.Bamboo Arches:  These blocks are curved so they give a different challenge than ordinary blocks.  What can you build at Junktion?Shape Building:  Explore the shapes that make up the foundations of many buildings and other structures at the ExxonMobil Math Cart.    ***Activities, events and times subject to change.  MUSEUM HOURS: Tue. – Sat.: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sun: Noon – 6 p.m. Second Saturday of every month opens at 9 a.m. for members. General Museum admission: $9 per person and $8 for seniors 65+ and for military personnel.
