Music is a universal language and Hip-hop continues the legacy through combining music with spoken word. Poetry, history, social awareness, music, dance and self-expression are among the valuable lessons for children via this musical genre. The performance examines rap’s predecessors, hip-hop artists’ messages and the creation of self-expressive works. This fun, fact-filled journey explores hip-hop’s history, heritage and hype. The audience will emerge with a new appreciation for hip-hop as a legitimate art form.One Stop Hip-Hop Shop is a product of Music Doing Good in Schools outreach program, an after-school musical arts enrichment program for students 7 – 18 years of age.
