On Friday, March 22nd (2013), Ukomadu Foundation (formerly The Afropolitan Experience - producers of Dance4Africa) will hold an exquisite haute fashion show at Las Velas Houston, coordinated by Shun Paris.  The evening will showcase a few of Houston’s best emerging fashion designers, as they present their interpretation of the continent (Africa) via creative couture expressions. We have the honor of being in the company of this year's honorary chairs: Beauty Entrepreneur, Kim Roxie from Lamik Beauty and Houston Councilman (District K), Larry Green, and Marketing Entrepreneur, Keith Davis of D-Mars.com.  We have invited some of Houston’s largest African/African American professional organizations and their members to join us for a high-powered evening of networking – including Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce, Houston Lawyers Association, National Black MBAs Houston chapter, Houston Association of Black Journalists, amongst others. Couture Noir is an installment of our BlackPreneurs Circle initiative, that seeks to bring due awareness to many of Houston’s highly talented Black fashion designers and beauty entrepreneurs.  In short time, Houston has become an international fashion hub, led by Jared Lang’s Fashion Houston, Houston International Fashion Week and Houston Fashion Week.  Our goal is to create a fashion event that ensures we celebrate our own Creatives, as they tell our stories with our sensibilities in mind. By the end of the evening, 10 BlackPreneurs will be honored for high achievement in their respective fields of endeavor, as well as their dedication to serving their community. They will be presented with Certificates of Recognition from the office of Houston Councilman (District K), Larry Green. Houston, TX, being the 4th largest city in America is home to many of highly successful young African/African American tastemakers.  These are the trailblazers, setting the pace for many of their peers and most importantly, those coming after them.  We will select them from varied sectors of business and endeavors, from community leaders and public servants to energy professionals and visual artists.  BlackPreneurs Circle is the philanthropic arm of Ukomadu Foundation. Its purpose is to raise the needed funds to accomplish the organization's commitments to charities, researchers, and projects tackling some of the most challenges problems facing our community at-large, as well as ones exploring the identity gap between Africans across the globe. *Live performance by Falu Phalu, singing his newest single - Beautiful Sounds by DJ KwadwoPhotography by Ke're Orr - Point and Click PhotographyVideography by Uzoma Amuneke - Amuneke Productions  *Complimentary Valet Parking Fashion Designers:André RedouLauren CarmonLena LeDayLisa Reed Marketplace Vendors:Kai Dunna - Freedom 54Gbemisola Ogunyomi - Aesthetics CosmeticsSamo Dinero - Dinero ClosetRicky Pistola - Ricky Groupe Food/Drinks Vendors:Amber Aldredge - Sugar Fix Bottoms Up Beverages - BUBeverage   ***FREE*** 0.00
