On Saturday, February 9, Tony Mandola’s will host its first annual oyster eating contest. Sign up to compete for a $250 gift card to Tony Mandola’s restaurant and a permanent place on the restaurants soon-to-be revealed dedicated oyster plaque. Only 12 open spots in the contest, so availability is limited. The competition will commence at 3pm, but friends, family, and on lookers are welcome to enjoy Hurricanes, Sazaracs, and a dedicated menu at Happy Hour prices from noon to 5pm. There will also be live music from the iconic vocalist and band leader Yvonne Washington. If this doesn’t sound sweet enough, from now through “Fat Tuesday”, Feb. 12, customers who purchase a $5 slice of King Cake will have a chance to win a weekend for two to New Orleans, complete with a round-trip airfare, a $200 gift card at Galatoire’s, and a two-night stay at Audubon Cottages, a historic collection of seven cottages that offer guest private, luxury hotel accommodations in the French Quarter. The winner will be announced on Fast Tuesday- February 12- and contestants need NOT to be present for the drawing.
