Spend the morning helping the park restore former farmland to native coastal prairie. We need 100 volunteers to help plant 3,000 prairie grasses and forbs. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy hiking or rubber boots. Bring a water bottle and work gloves if you have them. No experience necessary and all equipment will be provided. Mentors will be in the field to assist in planting, and answer any questions. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy after the hard work in the prairie. Volunteers should be at least 14-years-old and capable of digging and planting, but all family groups are welcome. Held at Sheldon Lake State Park & Environmental Learning Center, 15315 Beaumont Highway, Houston, TX 77049. Please e-mail Laura for registration at laura.babcock@tpwd.state.tx.us by April 12th.
