The students of FREN 336 (The Writing Workshop) and FREN 459 (The Battles of Algiers) cordially invite you to a conversation with journalist and author Danielle Michel-Chich on her just released book Lettre à Zohra D. This autobiographical narrative deals with the author's experience as a survivor of the historical 30 September 1956 bombing of the Milk Bar, a seminal moment in the war between France's colonial power and Algeria's independence movement as well as an episode prominently featured in Gillo Pontecorvo's internationally acclaimed film The Battle of Algier's (1966). The first forty-five minutes of the event will be in French.
