Dr. Yuan Ren is deputy director of Institute of Population Research (IPR), deputy director of Center for Urban and Regional Studies (CURS). He also is a member of International Union for Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), Asia Population Association (APA), and Chinese Population Association (CPA), Steering committee member of Shanghai Population Association (SPA) and Urban China Research Network (UCRN). Dr. Ren received his Ph.D. in Economics from Fudan University in 1999 and since then he has been teaching at the school.
