April showers bring May flowers! Come learn a bit April 4-10 about how rain is created and what colorful things can happen when Mother Nature lets it all out. • Cloud Guide: There are four types of clouds: cirrus, cumulus, nimbus and stratus. Make a cloud guide and learn how to observe the sky and predict the weather at Junktion. • Thunder Maker: Compress air and make a “bang”! Learn about what causes thunder with this fun (and loud) activity at Junktion. • Rainbows: What makes a rainbow and what gives it its colors? Make rainbows to hang in your home window at Junktion. • Hidden Rainbow: Help the leprechaun keep his pot of gold! Guess the hidden rainbow by playing a weather-related algebra and pattern exercise at the ExxonMobil Math Cart. • Roll a Rainbow: Practice one-to-one correspondence and probability skills by being the first person to place all the counters on the rainbow game board at the ExxonMobil Math Cart. • Clingy Colors: Discover how water can act like glue! Use water and acetate paper to design colorful abstract art at the Alexander Art Academy. • Hydraulics: Having an opportunity to experiment with hydraulics, or producing motion from forces in fluids, allows wonderful understanding of the mechanisms behind automobile brakes, bulldozer arms, or dump trucks. Using moving fluids, make bird wings, bulldozers, and robotic arms that move at your own command at the Inventors’ Workshop.
