Canal Street Gallery is dedicating its space to wonders made out of clay – in conjunction with the citywide National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts.
The gallery is hosting two exhibits, “Istanbul Concepts,” featuring artists from Turkey and “Chihuahua Ceramics,” showcasing artists from Mexico. The public is invited to view the works during a reception and silent auction from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5 at 2219 Canal Street, Houston, TX 77003.
The registration and preview of the work to be auctioned will begin at 6 p.m., and the silent auction will start at 7 p.m.
Gallery director Valentina Atkinson said this is a unique opportunity for the art space. “We are bringing in some of the most beautiful ceramic pieces in the world,” she said. “It is truly an outstanding show, celebrating creative expression.”
Isik Gencoglu is curator of the Turkish exhibition. Her goal is to create interesting pieces that tell stories and to showcase talents from Istanbul.
