A singer since the age of six, Ross quickly became a rising star after landing a spot as a contender on Star Search in '91. Touted as the Texas darling with a voice of gold, Ross landed one invite after another to sing the "National Anthem" at arenas all across Texas, a slew of southern festivals, an opening slot for country legend Merle Haggard, and nationally televised ad campaigns for both Revlon and Blue Bell ice cream – all before she had even graduated high school. More than a decade later, growing into that star persona has been both a gradual learning process and exhausting labor of love. After repeated deals with various independent record labels fell by the wayside, along with a revolving door of managers, producers and backing bands, Kathy Ross' passion for her music within a precarious music business has had to withstand numberless pressures. To this day, though, the vocalist treks to and from Nashville to stay up-to-date in the studio, honing her song craft and testing out audiences all across the South.
