Each quarterly event will showcase a group of the District's 19 institutions complete with special programming, pedicabs and food trucks. There will be FREE pedicabs to explore all of the museums in zone 2!
10am-4pm Celebrate Earth Day at the Weather Museum! There will be face painting, recycle relays, Earth Day mazes, wordfinds and seed plantings. Bring a recyclable item for free admission! $5 admission for adults, $3 for children.
10am-4pm Come and experience a live reenactment of "The Buffalo Soldiers Story" by Trooper Biggs (hourly) at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum. Bring the entire family to experience history! $5 admission, $3 for students with ID.
10am-4pm Stop by the Czech Center Museum Houston to enjoy live music by the Masters. Tasty sausages and Kolaches from the famous Prasek's Hillje Smokehouse for purchase. Free admission.
10am-5pm Join Houston Center for Contemporary Craft for their Annual Gathering of the Guilds. Local craft artists will demonstrate basket weaving, ship modeling, woodturning, blacksmithing, calligraphy, mosaics, quilting and more. Free admission.
10am-5pm Lawndale Art Center hosts Design Fair 2013, a unique marketplace, featuring vintage modern objects of the 20th century and examples of cutting-edge contemporary design. The Texas Co-Op, a special section of the Fair, will become an on-site laboratory with demos and 3D interactions. $5 admission.
10am-5pm Let the kids learn about caring for others while having fun! Children and students can commemorate Genocide Awareness Month at Holocaust Museum Houston by making drawings that will be forwarded to children in displaced persons camps at current genocide sites around the world. Free admission.
11am-6pm Come explore Southeast Asia during Asia Society's 6th Family Day! Try an ancient Filipino dance, meet an Asian animal from the Houston Zoo, learn yoga, hear a story about Kandai the Thai elephant, enjoy crafts in the activity zone, and much more! Free admission.
Noon-6pm The Houston Museum of African American Culture invites you to explore two new exhibits: The Houston Rap exhibit by Peter Beste explores the history of Houston's rap scene and Daggering by Nicole Miller provides a cryptic and provocative look into two sides of the African Diaspora. Free admission.
All Day - Stop by the For Good wall, a traveling art installation, that asks you to consider what you can do to improve the world around us. Neighborhood Centers will display the For Good wall near the Holocaust Museum. Consider what you can do to bring about positive change and let the whole world know by writing on the wall. This will inspire others to join in and do the same. Together, we can make a difference. So, what are you doing For Good?
