Celebrate Mexican heritage and pride with festive activities and performances May 2 – 8!
On May 5, 1862, Mexico defeated the French at the Battle of Puebla. Today, the date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. Join the fiesta and celebrate this historic event through fun, hands-on activities and performances. SPECIALS EVENTS:•Spotlight Performance — Las Américas Ballet Folklórico: Be amazed as this group of kids performs many regional dances of Mexico in full traditional costumes, music and flair. Event Time: 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 in the Brown Auditorium.
•Alley Theater presents Seguin — Unsung Hero: Watch a high-paced, informative play within a play about Juan Seguin, an authentic hero of the Texas Revolution.
Event Time: 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 in the Brown Auditorium. ON-GOING ACTIVITES:•Lotería: Test your luck at this Mexican game of chance similar to Bingo in Junktion. The first player to get three in a row shouts: “¡Lotería!”
•Macaroni Sombrero: Design a colorful sombrero using Macaroni at Junktion.
•Ojo de Dios (God’s Eye): Weave an Ojo de Dios or God's eye at Junktion. The God's Eye is a ritual tool and cultural symbol of the power that represents the elements.
•Talavera Tiles: Paint a traditional Mexican tile using oil pastels and traditional Mexican shapes and colors at the Alexander Art Academy.
•Domino Trains: Put your mind to work with this traditional Mexican game of dominoes matching numbers strategically to build a long train at the ExxonMobil Math Cart.
•Toma Todo: Spin over to the ExxonMobil Math Cart for a traditional Mexican game of chance with a twist.

Second Saturday of every month opens at 9 a.m. for members.General Museum admission: $9 per person and $8 for seniors 65+ and for active duty military personnel. Children under one and Museum Members receive free admission.
