National Foundation for Veteran Redeployment (NFVR), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is organizing a series of fundraising events to amplify awareness about veteran unemployment, and how NFVR works for veterans in the Oil and Gas industry. This inaugural and private event will take place on April 27th at Rice University's football stadium, in Houston,TX. We refer to this new event as The NFVR Houston Energizer.
Keynote Speaker - Congressman Pete Olson
Special Guest - Dale Buckner, President/CEO Global Guardian
The NFVR Houston Energizer, in conjunction with Pin Up CrossFit and Triumph Strength and Conditioning, aims to test your physical capabilities in the traditional military fashion through variations of the standard physical fitness testing system, but also through a competitive team aspect. Two team divisions, beginner and advanced, will battle through a number of events that will test your strength, endurance, teamwork, mental capacity and creativity.
With access to the football stadium at prestigious Rice University, competitors will be expected to work efficiently as a team while completing physical tasks such as buddy carries, pushing/pulling/carrying objects over a specified distance, stair/object climbing, and everyday fitness movements such as squats, pushups, situps, pullups, and lunges. Rest assured, your teammates will be important as you’ll need to lean on each other to complete both the physical and mental portion of the competition. Breathe deep as you may need a clear mind to complete the puzzle in order to finish the final event!
BEGINNER LEVEL: So you’re a beginner and a little worried about the intensity of the event? Don’t worry! Our beginners division will have aspects that everyone can have fun with including those who don’t spend as much time at the gym as they would like.
ADVANCED LEVEL: The advanced division will cater to the “weekend warrior” and beyond. Folks that like to tackle a weekend 5k, Tough Mudder, or are on a first name basis with the front desk staff at their gym or fitness center. We’ll test your capabilities and see if that gym membership is doing its job!
COST: Entry into the competition is FREE, we just ask the you support the National Foundation of Redeployment by liking our page and considering a contribution at the door. Please register by Thursday, April 25th.
