The Friends of River Oaks Park welcome the public to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated River Oaks Park. Also known as “Pumpkin Park” due to the park’s iconic pumpkin carriage intended to evoke Cinderella’s carriage, the park is often referred to as a “hidden gem” in one of Houston’s oldest and most established neighborhoods. Amidst the shade of majestic oak trees, River Oaks Park offers a playground area with swings, benches and enough space for kids to romp and play. The park also offers a sports field, 0.25-mile hike and bike trail, picnic tables, barbecue pits, tennis courts, volleyball court, basketball court, and beloved community center.
The renovations will be unveiled during the neighborhood celebration on Tuesday, April 30th from 5:00 – 7:30pm where guests can expect to see improvements to both indoor and outdoor park facilities. The celebration will feature a performance by a local Opera singer. Various children’s activities will be offered including a large bounce house for added romping and playing. Guests, young and old can also enjoy bites from Phoenicia Specialty Foods. The event is free and open to the public.
