Competition of mixed creativity and engineering gives participants a chance to compete for a free patent application!Sponsored by Shell and Wong Cabello Come out for a fun-filled day celebrating the 25th Annual Young Inventors’ Showcase. Children from kindergarten through 8th Grade will take imagination to the next level by showing off their inventions in this annual invention competition. There will be winners in each age category and the Grand Prize winner will receive a free patent application! Check out possible inventions and participate in exhilarating activities.
•Registration and set-up: 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in Kid’s Hall.
•Judging: 10 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
•Public Viewing:10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
•Final Judging: 2 – 3 p.m.
•Awards Ceremony: 3 – 3:30 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium.
ON-GOING EVENTS:•Vehicle Aerodynamics: Design your own 3-D vehicle model and then test its aerodynamic properties in the Museum's version of a wind tunnel at the Inventors’ Workshop.
•Invent-A-Color: Stop by the Alexander Art Academy and mix colors together to create your own color and then, name it!
•Paper Tower: Use trial and error to make a tower as tall as possible at Junktion.
•Contraptions: Build a unique contraption using wooden planks at Junktion.
•Skimmer: Improve the way a skimmer design glides through the air at Junktion.
