In conjunction with the exhibition Wols, the Menil Collection presents a Panel Discussion: Wols – His Life, Work and Context. Thursday, September 12, 2013, 6:00 p.m.This first comprehensive American presentation of the photographs, prints, drawings, watercolors, and paintings of the artist Wols (Wolfgang Schulze, 1913-1951) was organized by the Menil Collection and Kunsthalle Bremen, Germany.At this program, Frankfurt scholar Dr. Ewald Rathke will introduce the artist and the exhibition; then Menil curator Toby Kamps will be joined in a conversation about Wols with art historians Dr. Andreas Kreul, director of Bremen’s Karin and Uwe Hollweg Foundation, Patrycja de Bieberstein Ilgner, Hollweg Foundation archivist, and Dr. Katy Siegel, Hunter College, New York, professor and gallery chief curator, writer, and Wols catalogue essayist.Pictured: Wols, It's All Over, 1946–47, The Menil Collection, Houston, © 2013 Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York / ADAGP, Paris.
