HCC Healthy Living is a program designed to increase awareness in nutrition, well-being and physical fitness for faculty and staff at HCC Northwest campuses. As part of this program, Dr. Alejandro Chaoul will be discussing the importance of spirituality and its connection to wellness. Dr. Chaoul is currently an assistant professor at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where he conducts research using mind-body techniques with cancer patients. He has also been collaborating in the area of interfaith and contemplative practices at the Rothko Chapel. Additionally, Dr. Chaoul is an associate faculty member at the UT Health McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics, where he teaches on spirituality, integrative medicine and end of life to medical students. Born in Argentina, he graduated with a BA in Philosophy and a BS in Mass Communications from Boston University. He has traveled extensively and met with several Indian and Tibetan masters, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Inspired by his travels he continued his education in religious studies obtaining his MA at the University of Virginia and his PhD at Rice University. He has been teaching Tibetan meditation and Tibetan yoga since 1995 in various parts of the US, Latin America and Europe.
