Prof. Forsythe is a pioneer in the study of human rights in the field of International Relations. He is an expert on the Red Cross, the law of war, and American foreign policy. His most recent book is The Politics of Prisoner Abuse. The United States and Enemy Prisoners after 9/11. (Cambridge University Press, 2011). His lecture at Rice takes stock of the world’s almost 70 years of experience with internationally recognized human rights in a world of realist diplomacy. This event is also co-sponsored by the Department of Political Science, and the Baker Institute Student Forum.
