Travel the world at the first Pearland International Festival, set for Saturday, September 21, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Pearland's Independence Park, located at 3919 Liberty Drive.Tastes and sounds from around the world include; Asian, Middle Eastern, Latin American, European, Caribbean and African cultures. This year, Spotlighting Germany and its rich heritage; featuring Kings Biergarten voted #1 in America for its vast array of beers, sausages, Oktoberfest, fine art and culture and of course, a beer garden will host our first Oktoberfest.The Pearland International Festival is going to be filled with live music, cultural dancing performances, activities, international food and vendor booths, children's entertainment, kidszone, as well as a Wine and Fine Arts VIP tent.Six-time winner of "Best Latin Band" in the Houston Press Music Awards and pregame Super Bowl XXXVIII entertainment, Mango Punch, is set to headline the event on the main stage, along with the infamous Jazz, Reggae, Line Dance and Zydeco, Gary Michael Dhal Band.Grupo Kache named the “Best Latin Band” by the Houston Chronicle, will highlight the mid afternoon crowd with their combine traditional Latin flavor with modern rhythms. Local band Modulation Band playing jazz, blues and all that’s good from Mustang Sally to Margaritaville and back to Tequila.Other cultural entertainment includes everything from clogging to Bollywood, an Indian hip hop dance, local singer, Sanni M'mairura, who made it through to Hollywood on American Idol in addition to a number of culturally diverse talents. The entertainment is to be as varied as the countries represented.In the Wine and Fine Arts VIP tent, you can enjoy local art on exhibit while also learning the proper German way to order a beer in a pub, where you use your thumb instead of your index finger. Under the tent, wines from around the globe along with local wineries will be on hand to offer samples.Admission is $10 per person and $5.00 for children 12 years & under. With admission, each person receives a festival passport to stamp as they travel around the world, learning facts along the way. Adults get a special passport to the VIP Tent, admission is $40.00 that allows them to taste international wines, lagers and ales and write down their favorites.With more than 50 acres, Independence Park provides plenty of space to spread a blanket to relax and enjoy the entertainment at three stages. Parking and shuttle service are free at the Sheryl Searcy Ninth Grade Center, First Baptist Church and The Rig.The Pearland International Festival is an event brought to you by Pearland Cultural and Fine Arts, LLC (PCFA). PCFA is an organization whose purpose is to be charitable and educational and to promote public interest in the arts in Pearland and beyond.
