Houston-based singer/songwriter/producer/sideman/studio owner Jack Saunders wears many hats. Yet he has a new set of songs despite having released a wonderful album, "A Real Good Place to Start," just last year.
Saunders' new one is titled "Grit and Jangle," a phrase (that) nicely fits Saunders' music, thoughtful singer-songwriter fare sung in a rich, fluid voice with plenty of melodic lift. Andrew Dansby, Houston Chronicle
Mike Stinson’s outlaw honky-tonk music bristles with the sidearm-carrying immodesty of Billy Joe Shaver and the trailer-park poeticism of John Prine. But Stinson’s broken heart doesn’t slump in a deep depression; it rides on to the endless possibilities of the road ahead, eliciting sanguine statements like “Heaven is a beer joint and a South Texas song.”
"O'Connor's raspy voice outlines the often simultaneous desire for pleasure and salvation." - Jeff Giddens, NoDepression, Sounds Country
"O'Connor may be yet another hidden gem from Texas. ...soulful vocals...and his songwriting is top notch" - Eli Petersen, Twangville
"...a collection of songs that take unvarnished looks at not-so-beautiful losers who populate the margins: the has-beens, the never-will-bes...With the line "a bar tab twice as long as Billy Gibbons' beard," even losers win." - Jim Beal Jr., San Antonio Express-News
