Over the past year we have discussed the relationship between health and the built environment. Most recently, in Spring and Summer 2013 we conducted several Healthy Community Design Workshops in selected Houston communities that focused on making the connection between walkability, connectivity, active transportation, access to healthy foods, and safe streets for all users. Information and discussion sessions led by experts and stakeholders on smoke-free housing policies, social and emotional wellness efforts, clinical and preventative services and healthy eating and active living were convened as well. Coming up next, Dr. Robert Ogilvie, with Change Lab Solutions, a national organization focused on innovative approaches to chronic disease prevention will introduce and discuss Health in All Policies. Please feel free to forward this invitation to other community partners that are passionate about making the community transformation goal of “making the easy choice the healthy choice” a reality. We look forward to your involvement!
