Spend Winter Break at The Woodlands Children's Museum Donâ€™t worry about cabin fever during winter break. There is no shortage of fun at The Woodlands Childrenâ€™s Museum! There are several programs planned for the museumâ€™s â€œWinter Funcation.â€� For 4 year olds, winter-themed storybooks will be used as the inspiration for making winter snacks, singing songs and creative art projects. Each day will focus on a different story and unique activities. The workshops for 4 year olds will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on:-- Friday, Dec. 28 for Bear Snores On-- Monday, Dec. 30 for The Missing Mitten Mystery-- Thursday, Jan. 2 for Ten on the Sled-- Friday, Jan. 3 for Snowballs For children ages 5 to 8, there are several options to keep young minds active and entertained: -- Paper Antics will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 28. Children will be invited to journey through the art of creating winter projects from recycled objects and to try their hands at making paper. -- From Trash to Treasure will offer several creative ideas to inspire young minds to think twice about typically discarded items. They can turn bottle caps into wind chimes, soap lids into maracas and newspapers into silly hats. The workshop is offered from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28 and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3. -- Princess and Pirate Play is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Dec. 30. Pirates will make hats, masks, necklaces and cardboard box pirate ships, while princesses will make wands, wings and cardboard box castles. -- Winter Snack Attack allows children to enjoy the art of food, while creating fun and decorative snacks with both new and tried and true ingredients. The theme this year is â€œwinter blowing in.â€� The workshops are slated for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Jan. 3. -- Winter WonderFun is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Children will pretend to be snowed in. They will make snow, create snowflakes and snowmen, fix a special winter snack and make healthy winter treats to feed birds. -- International Holiday Festival is an artful journey through the continents discovering various holiday customs through creative activities and food. Join the museum at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Parents may pick and choose courses for their children to attend. The cost for each workshop is $34 for members and $54 for non-members. Children ages 5 to 8 may sign up for the â€œLunch Bunchâ€� to stay for both sessions for an additional $5 a day. Pre-registration is required. The Woodlands Childrenâ€™s Museum will be all decked out for the holidays. The calendar is full of fun activities, as well as a number of workshops for children ages 4 through 8.
