The high-energy and rhythmic music of Latin America and Spain is vividly expressed in the holiday music of these regions. From solemn and intimate to exuberant and gregarious, Latin and Spanish holiday celebrations are filled with joyous, celebratory, and danceable music—a reflection of the rich amalgamation of heritages. Join Flamárt (Featuring Latin American Music and Arts) and the Foundation for Modern Music for another installment of "Navidad Latina" at the MFAH. Enjoy music from Spain, Latin America, the Caribbean, and other areas of Iberia-America by local performers including Houston’s premier flamenco group, Solero Flamenco (singer Irma "La Paloma" and guitarist Jeremías "El Valiente" and dancers Solangel "Lali" Calix and Edith Niño); internationally renowned percussionist Jorge Orta "Cro-Cro"; pianist Paul Boyd; and baritone Raúl Orlando Edwards. A reception to meet the performers follows the program.General admission is free on Thursdays, courtesy of Shell. This event is free, but tickets are required and will be available soon. Secure your seat by downloading tickets in advance: online (printer required to print out ticket), by phone at 713.639.7771, or at any MFAH admissions desk.
