We just got off the phone with the press folks at Starbucks and they are scrambling to take action against Dumb Starbucks that just popped up in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles over the weekend.
Laurel Harper, spokeswoman for Starbucks, tells RumorFix, “While we appreciate the humor, they cannot use our name, because it’s a protected trademark.”
She also makes it clear the so-called art installation is not affiliated with the coffee giant and “at this point we are evaluating next steps.”
Translation — lawsuit!
We don’t know who’s affiliated with the parody art, but they are giving away free coffee and the menu looks very similar to the Starbucks menu except they have the word “dumb” in front of their drinks — such as “Dumb Expresso” and “Dumb Frappuccino.”
The pop up store is a huge success with the neighborhood, there have been lines around the corner all weekend.
