Orlando, FL —

Casey Anthony is found not guilty of murdering her two-year-old daughter Caylee Marie Anthony.

After more than 10 hours of deliberations, the jury reached a verdict.

The seven women and five men jury from Clearwater, Florida handed down their verdict around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

“As to the charge of first degree murder, verdict as to count one, we the jury find the defendant not guilty,” the clerk of court said.

The jury also found Casey Anthony not guilty of aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child.

The jury did find Casey Anthony guilty of providing false information to a law enforcement officer.

Casey cried while the clerk read the verdict.

Casey’s defense team held a press conference after the verdict was read. This case is a major win for lead defense attorney Jose Baez.

“What my driving force has been for the last three years has been always to make sure that there has been justice for Caylee and Casey because Casey did not murder Caylee,” Baez said. “It’s that simple.”

State attorney Lawson Lamar spoke to the media about how they presented their case.

“We’re disappointed with the verdict today and surprised because we know the facts and we put in absolutely every piece of evidence that existed,” Lamar said.

Jurors decided to not speak with the media and they asked for their privacy. All twelve jurors will go back to Pinellas County today.

Spectators outside the courtroom had mixed reactions with the jury’s verdict.

“It’s unbelievable. She should have been convicted,” one woman said.

“The state couldn’t prove it that she really did it. I’m glad an innocent person wasn’t punished for something they didn’t do,” a man said.

Jail officials say Casey Anthony is back at the Orange County Jail. Judge Belvin Perry will give Casey Anthony her sentence on Thursday at 9 a.m.

After the verdict was read, prosecutor Jeff Ashton announced he is retiring, sources told our sister station WFTV.
