Houston, TX 77002
Located in the Houston Theater District of downtown Houston, Texas, the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts is one of the city’s premier venues for theatre and artistic entertainment.
The 60-foot high glass walls of the venue provide its guests with an eye-catching view of Houston's skyscrapers, and make the Hobby Center itself quite a striking construct. Other features of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts include a block-long terrace, a mural by America painter Sol LeWitt, an award-winning restaurant and a three-story Grand Lobby. Since opening in 2002, the Center has become one of Houston’s most popular entertainment complexes.
The venue consists of two main theaters: Sarofim Hall and Zilkha Hall. Sarofim Hall is a three-tier and 2,650-seat theater specifically designed to host a wide variety of Broadway productions. The gold additions to the architecture of the theater add to the spectacle of the twinkling fiber optic stars that cover the dome ceiling. The Hobby Center’s Zilkha Hall is the smaller of the two theaters with a 500-seat capacity. The hall is primarily used for showcasing exhibitions from the Uniquely Houston program, a series that encourages growth for smaller local performing arts groups. The existence of both these halls have made Houston’s Hobby Center for the Performing Arts a grand spectacle for theatre and musical enthusiasts.
Boasting such stellar facilities, it's no surprise that the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts schedule is a busy one, constantly featuring an array of theatre and music productions. The entertainment venue is without a doubt, a leader in its industry.
