TSO establishes the "See A Better Future" scholarship program in local communities

The Doctors of TSO have a long-standing commitment to caring for their patients and the communities they serve. Over $40,000 is being designated for a new "See A Better Future" college scholarship program which is another way for TSO doctors to demonstrate their commitment to the overall well being of youth and to convey the message of the importance of good vision for achieving academic excellence.

The college scholarship for $1,000 will be presented to a 2009 graduating high school senior in communities where doctors are participating in the scholarship program. To qualify for the scholarship, a senior high school student must currently be attending a high school within a community served by a participating TSO. The student must be planning to attend an accredited two year or four year college.

Awards will be granted in collaboration with local guidance counselors based upon the applications they receive. The criteria for evaluating applications will be the student's dedication to helping others through volunteer service, demonstration of leadership skills and a genuine interest in furthering their education. Financial need and academic standing may also be considered.
Scholarship awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, disability or national origin in collaboration with guidance counselors of the local high school. TSO employees and family members are not eligible to apply to this program.

Because a child's success is so dependent upon seeing their best, the Doctors of TSO also provide local school nurses with instruction and materials for vision screenings in addition to eye care kits for the coaches of youth teams throughout the communities they serve.
