Netflix is working on a biopic about The Ramones’ lead singer titled “I Slept With Joey Ramone”. Pete Davidson (SNL, “King Of Staten Island”) has been chosen to play Joey Ramone. It will be based on the memoir of Joey Ramones’ younger brother, Mickey Leigh, and prepared for the big screen by Pete Davidson and director Jason Orley. As you might expect, it covers the life and career of Joey Ramone and has the blessings of his estate.
Does Pete Davidson have the acting chops to play one of the most iconic figures in Punk music? Can he and Orley write a script that isn’t sophomoric and moronic humor, but actually pays tribute to one of the most influential bands of that era? I have my doubts, but I guess we’ll find out.
