PENSACOLA, Fla. — A 9-year-old Florida girl’s voice was definitely on fire. And social media cannot get enough of it.
Tom Coverly posted the video on TikTok, and more than 8 million people responded -- including Keys, the television station reported.
“We were getting about 100,000 views a day, and then Alicia Keys herself ended up commenting on the video,” Tom Coverly told WEAR.
At one point, Annika uses a long pole attached to a net as a microphone as she sings, “This girl is on fire.”
“You are the best singer-slash-pool cleaner, ever,” Tom Coverly says in the video as his daughter realizes she had an audience.
Annika said she began singing about three years ago, WEAR reported. Annika said the internet notoriety has been “really cool.”
“It made me feel very special,” Annika said. “It made me feel worth it to this world.”
The budding singer also was thrilled that Keys gave her a shoutout.
“She said, ‘Sing, Mama,’” Annika told WEAR.
“This has helped my daughter a lot with self-confidence and self-esteem,” Tom Coverly, told the television station.
Annika hopes her singing will inspire other children.
“I want them to get like, they can follow their dream and they can be special too like that,” she told WEAR. “Because they are all worth it. Everybody is worth it to this world.”
