According to the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire District, the baby's parents were headed to the hospital Monday evening when they realized that the mother, whose water had broken and was experiencing contractions every two minutes, wouldn't get there in time. The frantic couple then called 911 and stopped at the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Station No. 4, the district said in a Facebook post Wednesday.
"Upon arriving at the firehouse, the crew of 2234 quickly assisted the female into the firehouse where, within minutes of arrival, [she] gave birth to a beautiful baby girl," the post read.
The crew delivered the newborn, named Hallie Mae Darden, shortly before 8 p.m. The baby and her mother were taken by ambulance to an area hospital and have been released, the district said.
"The Dardens would like to express their sincere gratitude to the crew of 2234 for their quick action and professionalism in assisting with the arrival of their healthy baby girl," the post read.
